The VELUX FS C01 is the smallest fixed skylight in the VELUX pitched-roof range, measuring 550 × 700mm with approximately 462 × 611mm of visible glass and 0.28m² of daylight area. Ideal for toilets and powder rooms, walk-in robes, small hallways, laundries, compact bathrooms where you want natural light without ventilation. VELUX FS C01 Fixed Skylight – 550 × 700mm
The VELUX FS C01 is the smallest fixed skylight in the VELUX pitched-roof range, designed for compact rooms and targeted daylight where ventilation is not required. Its 550 × 700mm frame, approximately 462 × 611mm visible glass and 0.28m² daylight area make it particularly useful for toilets, robes, hallways, laundries, small bathrooms, pantries, stairwells and other tight spaces. Choose the skylight first, then match the flashing to the actual tile or metal roof profile.

Planning around 600mm roof framing? The C-series is 550mm wide, which is one reason builders often consider it for tighter framing layouts. However, nominal 600mm truss or rafter centres do not automatically guarantee a suitable clear opening. Actual timber width, battens, structural design and required installation clearances must be checked before cutting.

Flashing is not included with the FS C01. Start with the roof profile: VELUX EDW is the factory route for compatible tile and low-profile corrugated roofs, while Central Skylights custom COLORBOND® flashing is the better starting point for TrimDeck, Klip-Lok and other roof-specific details.

VELUX FS C01 Fixed Skylight for Pitched Roofs
FS C01 is designed for rooms where natural daylight and sky view are the priority but ventilation is not needed. The fixed construction avoids manual handles, electric motors and rain sensors, making it a straightforward VELUX option for compact spaces.
VELUX specifies the FS range for suitable pitched-roof installations from 15° to 90°. High-performance double glazing is standard, with approximately 75% radiant heat block, about 99% protection from harmful UV and NEAT™ exterior coating to help reduce cleaning frequency.
Choose FS C01 When
- You need daylight but not ventilation
- The room is compact or the ceiling zone is limited
- A narrow 550mm-wide skylight suits the roof layout
- You want a simple fixed VELUX product
- You already have a roofer and want supply-only

The C01 frame measures 550 × 700mm. The visible internal glass is approximately 462 × 611mm, providing about 0.28m² of daylight area.

Glass area is only part of the daylight result. A deep straight shaft can deliver a different result from a wider splayed shaft. Ceiling height, roof cavity depth, room orientation, wall colours and skylight position also affect how daylight spreads through the room.

The skylight and flashing should be selected together. VELUX EDW is designed for tile and compatible low-profile corrugated roofs, while Central Skylights custom flashing can cover profiles and details outside the standard EDW application.

Roof below 15°? FS is a pitched-roof skylight. For a lower roof pitch, do not simply lay the skylight at the same low angle. The project may need an inclined custom flashing that raises the unit to a suitable installation angle, or a VELUX FCM flat-roof skylight may be the better product. Send us the roof pitch and photos before ordering.
Will a 550mm-Wide C01 Suit My Roof Framing?
C01 belongs to the 550mm-wide VELUX C-series. That compact width is one reason it is frequently considered for new builds, renovations and smaller roof openings.
However, the product width should not be confused with the required structural opening. Roof trusses, rafters, timber width, battens, services and manufacturer installation clearances all need to be assessed before the opening is formed.
Useful Checks Before Ordering

- Check timber member widths
- Locate electrical and mechanical services
- Check roof battens and roof-covering layout
- Plan the internal plaster shaft
For Existing Homes
- Do not assume standard centres equal a clear opening
- Avoid cutting structural trusses without proper design

Does VELUX FS C01 open?
No. FS C01 is fixed and designed for natural daylight. If the room also needs ventilation, compare the VS C01, VSE C01 or VSS C01.
Can FS C01 be installed on a tile roof?
Yes. For compatible tiled roofs from 15°, VELUX EDW C01 is the standard factory flashing option. The actual tile profile and roof conditions should still be confirmed.
Can FS C01 be installed on Corrugated Colorbond?
Yes. VELUX EDW can suit compatible low-profile corrugated metal roofing. Central Skylights can also provide a custom Colorbond C01 flashing where a custom roof detail is preferred or required.
Can FS C01 be installed on TrimDeck or Klip-Lok?
Yes, but standard EDW is not designed for wider metal profiles such as TrimDeck and Klip-Lok. Use a roof-profile-specific custom flashing.
Is C01 suitable for a roof under 15°?
FS is designed for the pitched-roof range. A lower-pitch project may require the unit to be raised on a properly designed inclined custom flashing, or an FCM flat-roof skylight may be more suitable. Confirm the roof before ordering.
Can I add a blind?
Yes. For FS C01, choose a matching FS-size blind. FSCD Solar Honeycomb Blackout provides strong room darkening and thermal control, while FSLD Solar Translucent softens daylight and reduces glare.

A blind is worth considering for bedrooms, bathrooms, west-facing rooms, home offices and other spaces where glare, privacy or summer heat control matters. VELUX solar blinds are self-contained and can be retrofitted after the skylight is installed.
FSCD Solar Honeycomb Blackout
Best when stronger room darkening and thermal performance are important. VELUX states its honeycomb blackout blind provides near-total light reduction and can reduce heat by about 70%.
