The Velux FS is a fixed, non-opening skylight designed for pitched roofs with a minimum 15-degree pitch. It is a popular option for bringing natural light into a home, especially in rooms where ventilation is not a priority. These skylights are known for their double-glazed, energy-efficient glass and durable, low-profile design.
- Glazing: The skylight is double-glazed and energy-efficient to minimise heat transfer, with some options capable of blocking up to 75% of radiant heat. Glass options include standard double-paned glass with a low-E3 coating and argon gas or an upgrade to “Clean, Quiet & Safe” laminated glass.
- Design: The low-profile design sits closer to the roofline for a sleek appearance. The frame is made of aluminium.
- Warranty: VELUX offers a 10-year warranty on the glass seal against breakage.
- Compatibility: Compatible with optional, separately sold blinds for additional light and heat control, including solar-powered versions.
Correct flashing is critical to ensure a watertight and durable installation. The required kit depends on your specific roof material.
- EDW Flashing: Suitable for tiled and corrugated iron roofs with a minimum of 15 degrees pitch. This kit is not suitable for metal profiles like Klip-Lok or Trimdek.
- Custom Flashing: For roofs with metal profiles like Klip-Lok or Trimdek, or if the roof pitch is below 15 degrees, custom-made flashings are required. Central Skylights offers these, including pitch adaptor flashings.
