The VELUX VSS C01 Solar Opening Skylight 550 × 700mm brings natural daylight and controllable fresh air to pitched roofs from 15°–90°. It includes solar-powered wireless operation, a concealed rechargeable battery, an automatic rain sensor and removable insect screen, with no hard-wired skylight motor required. Approx. internal glass: 407 × 519mm; daylight area: 0.21m². Flashing is sold separately.
VELUX VSS C01 Solar Opening Skylight – 550 × 700mm
The VELUX VSS C01 is the smallest VSS size for targeted daylight and ventilation in compact rooms. It combines natural daylight with solar-powered opening, wireless control, an automatic rain sensor and a removable insect screen. The external solar panel recharges the concealed battery used for operation, so no hard-wired skylight motor is required.

Which Flashing Should You Use With VSS C01?
Flashing is sold separately. Choose the roof interface from the actual roof material, profile and pitch — not simply from the skylight size.

Use EDW where the roof is a compatible concrete/terracotta tile or conventional low-profile corrugated application in the normal pitched-roof range.

Roof below 15°? VSS is a pitched-roof skylight. Do not simply install it flat to a lower-pitch roof plane. The project may need an assessed inclined custom flashing that raises the unit to a suitable angle, or a flat-roof VELUX model may be more appropriate.

How the VSS Solar System Works
External Solar Panel
Charges the concealed battery used to operate the skylight, including when the sun is not shining.
Wireless Keypad
Open and close the skylight from the included radio-frequency wall-mounted control.
Rain Sensor
Automatically closes the skylight when rain is detected while the skylight is open.
Electrical planning: the VSS skylight motor does not need a hard-wired mains connection. This does not mean other electrical work in the room or project is never required.

VELUX VSS C01 Solar Opening Skylight
VSS C01 combines a 550 × 700mm pitched-roof frame with solar-powered opening, wireless control, rain-sensor protection and an insect screen. It is designed for rooms where daylight and fresh air are both priorities.
The VSS range is available in 10 current Australian sizes and is designed for suitable pitched-roof installations from 15° to 90°.

Solar, Battery, Keypad & Rain Sensor
The external solar panel recharges the concealed battery used for opening and closing. A wireless wall-mounted keypad is included, and the rain sensor automatically closes the skylight when rain is detected.

Does VSS C01 need mains wiring?

Can I add a blind?

Installing these windows is incredibly straightforward. We replaced our outdated plastic bubble-style units with these modern curb-mounted ones, and the process couldn’t have been simpler. All you need to do is remove the old screws, bubble, and seal, then place the new unit right on top of your existing curb. Secure it by screwing into the pre-drilled holes in the window frame. In fact, unpacking the windows and getting them onto the roof takes more time than the actual installation.
