Choose the flashing range that matches your skylight
We separate pitched-roof and flat-roof flashing because they solve different installation conditions. Choose the VELUX family first, then confirm the roof profile and pitch before fabrication.
FS, VS, VSE & VSS Custom Flashing
For fixed and opening VELUX skylights where a purpose-made roof interface is needed — particularly TrimDeck, Klip-Lok, selected Corrugated installations and selected low-pitch metal-roof projects.
- Size-matched C and M series flashing products
- Corrugated, TrimDeck and Klip-Lok configurations
- Separate 0–15° and 15°+ options on supported products
- Colour choices available on many configurations
FCM, VCM & VCS Custom Flashing
VELUX flat-roof skylights use custom-made flashing matched to the exact four-digit skylight size, roof construction, profile, pitch and installation orientation.
- For VELUX FCM fixed flat-roof skylights
- For VCM / VCS opening flat-roof skylights where applicable
- Useful for low-slope metal roofs and replacement work
- Portrait / landscape options on supported sizes

Already know your VELUX code? Use the links below to go straight to the matching custom-flashing product. Before ordering, confirm the roof profile, approximate pitch, colour and orientation where required.
C, M & S Series Flashing
For compatible pitched-roof VELUX skylights. Choose the exact VELUX size code, then configure the roof profile and pitch options on the product page.
Four-Digit Flat-Roof Sizes
For matching flat-roof VELUX flashing products. Model compatibility varies by size, so use the exact product link and check the configuration before ordering.
Not sure of the code? Check the VELUX label on the skylight or send Central Skylights a roof photo plus the skylight model/size. We can help you avoid ordering the wrong flashing.
Standard VELUX flashing or custom flashing?
Custom is not automatically better. The correct answer depends on the skylight family, roof profile and pitch. This is the practical starting point.
Match the roof — not just the skylight
VELUX EDW has an intended application. Outside that application, a purpose-made roof detail may be required.
“COLORBOND roof” does not tell us which flashing you need
COLORBOND® describes the steel finish, not the roof-sheet shape. Corrugated, TRIMDEK® and KLIP-LOK® have very different ribs, pans, fixing systems and minimum roof slopes. The flashing needs to suit the actual installed profile.
Corrugated
Rounded, closely spaced ribs. Conventional corrugated iron can sometimes use VELUX EDW on suitable pitched-roof applications; custom options are also available.
LYSAGHT CUSTOM ORB® reference: 16 mm nominal rib • 5° minimum slopeTrimDeck / TRIMDEK®
Wide pans with trapezoidal ribs. VELUX EDW is not designed for this profile, so a custom flashing route is normally required.
LYSAGHT TRIMDEK® reference: 29 mm nominal rib • 2° minimum slopeKlip-Lok / KLIP-LOK®
Concealed-fix roofing with taller ribs and wide pans. The installed variant should be identified before the skylight flashing is specified.
Common LYSAGHT variants: approx. 40–43 mm ribs • from 1° minimum slopeTile
Many compatible tiled pitched roofs can use the genuine VELUX EDW system. Unusual tiles, replacement openings or other project conditions may need a different detail.
Check tile profile + VELUX model + 15°–90° flashing applicationNot sure what roof profile you have? Send a clear roof photo showing the sheet ribs and a wider photo showing the skylight position. We would rather identify the roof before the flashing is made than guess from “metal roof” or “COLORBOND”.
The flashing has to respect the skylight’s intended roof range
Pitched-roof VELUX skylights and flat-roof VELUX skylights are different product families. We specify the flashing around the product you are actually installing — not from roof pitch alone.
Fixed pitched skylight
VELUX specifies FS for pitched roofs from 15°–90°. Custom flashing is especially relevant on TrimDeck, Klip-Lok and selected special metal-roof details.
Manual opening skylight
Part of the pitched-roof family. Match the flashing to the exact size code, roof profile and compliant installation angle.
Solar / electric opening
These opening skylights follow the pitched-roof flashing logic: correct VELUX size, roof profile, roof pitch and drainage detail all matter.
Fixed flat-roof skylight
VELUX specifies FCM for 0°–60° roof pitches and states that custom-made flashing is required and not supplied with the skylight.
Solar flat-roof skylight
VELUX specifies VCS for 0°–60° and states that custom-made flashing is required. Match the base detail to the roof construction.
Selected low-pitch metal roofs
For selected FS / VS / VSE / VSS projects, Central Skylights offers inclined custom flashing configurations that raise the skylight rather than simply following a roof plane below the normal pitched-skylight range.
Low-pitch does not automatically mean “use a flat-roof flashing”. The complete detail must suit the VELUX family, roof profile, structure, drainage and installation requirements. Confirm the arrangement before cutting the roof opening.
How we match a custom flashing to your project
Getting these four decisions right before fabrication makes the install simpler and reduces the risk of the wrong flashing arriving on site.
Match the VELUX
Confirm the product family and exact size code — for example FS C06, VSS M08 or FCM 3046.
Identify the roof
Confirm tile, Corrugated, TrimDeck, Klip-Lok or another identified profile. Photos are very useful.
Check pitch & water path
Confirm approximate roof pitch, sheet direction and whether backflashing / a back tray should form part of the detail.
Choose final options
Confirm colour and orientation where applicable, then order the matching made-to-order flashing.
Supply the VELUX and matching flashing together
If your installer already knows the roof, a prefabricated matching flashing can remove one more fabrication and design task from the day of installation.
- Genuine VELUX skylights
- VELUX EDW where it is the correct system
- Made-to-order custom flashing where required
- Backflashing / back-tray options where specified
- Pickup from Noble Park or selected Melbourne delivery
- Supply-only support before the roof opening is prepared
Unsure which flashing to order?
Send the information below before fabrication. For unusual roofs, a few clear photos can save a lot of guesswork.
Made-to-order item: Central Skylights custom flashing products are manufactured to the order and are generally not returnable once made. If any roof detail is uncertain, contact us before ordering.
Designed for the jobs that do not fit a one-size-fits-all roof detail
TrimDeck roofs
Purpose-made flashing can be specified around the wider trapezoidal ribs rather than using a flashing VELUX excludes from this roof profile.
Klip-Lok roofs
Concealed-fix roof sheets and taller ribs need the actual profile and water path considered before the flashing detail is selected.
Flat-roof VELUX
FCM / VCS installations require a custom-made flashing solution. The exact four-digit VELUX size must be matched before fabrication.
Replacement skylights
Existing domes, old kerbs, roof patches and shaft dimensions can change the detail. Measure the existing opening rather than assuming a direct swap.
VELUX custom flashing FAQ
Practical answers for homeowners, builders, roofers and installers ordering a skylight and flashing together.
Does every VELUX skylight need custom flashing?
No. VELUX EDW is designed for suitable tile and conventional corrugated-iron pitched roofs. Custom flashing becomes particularly relevant for TrimDeck, Klip-Lok, flat-roof VELUX products, selected low-pitch configurations and unusual replacement details.
Can VELUX EDW be used on Corrugated iron?
Yes, where the skylight, roof profile and pitch fit the VELUX EDW application. VELUX specifically describes EDW for tile and conventional corrugated iron roofing. The installer should still confirm the complete roof detail.
Can VELUX EDW be used on TrimDeck or Klip-Lok?
VELUX Australia specifically states that EDW is not suitable for metal profiles such as Trimdek and Klip-Lok. Central Skylights supplies custom flashing options for these roof profiles across many VELUX sizes.
What flashing do I need below 15°?
It depends on the VELUX family. FS, VS, VSE and VSS are pitched-roof products normally specified by VELUX for 15°–90°. For selected low-pitch Corrugated, TrimDeck and Klip-Lok projects, Central Skylights offers inclined custom flashing configurations that raise the skylight to a suitable angle. FCM, VCM and VCS are a separate flat-roof family and use custom-made flashing. Confirm the complete detail before ordering.
Does a VELUX FCM need custom flashing?
Yes. VELUX states that FCM requires custom-made flashing and that the flashing is not supplied with the skylight. The flashing should be matched to the exact FCM size and the roof construction.
Can the flashing match my COLORBOND roof?
Many Central Skylights custom flashing products provide COLORBOND colour choices. Colour is only one part of the specification — the roof profile, VELUX size, pitch and orientation also need to be correct.
Do I need a back tray or backflashing?
Central Skylights recommends considering backflashing or a back tray on metal roofs such as Corrugated, TrimDeck and Klip-Lok. The final need and design depend on roof pitch, sheet layout, water flow and the installation detail.
Can custom flashing fix an existing skylight leak?
Sometimes flashing is part of the problem, but a leak should be diagnosed before assuming new flashing alone will solve it. Roof sheets, fasteners, seals, the skylight itself, previous repairs and surrounding roof details may all need inspection.
Can I buy the skylight and custom flashing without installation?
Yes. Central Skylights supplies VELUX skylights, custom flashing, blinds and accessories for supply-only projects. Pickup is available from Noble Park and selected Melbourne delivery is available. Installation can also be arranged for suitable Melbourne projects.
Can I return a custom flashing if I ordered the wrong one?
Custom flashing is made to the selected order and is generally not returnable once fabricated. Confirm the exact VELUX model, size, roof profile, pitch, colour and orientation before ordering. Contact us first if anything is uncertain.
