These custom base flashings for Velux skylights are designed to fit perfectly on any roof, providing a secure and weatherproof seal. With precision engineering and high-quality materials, they offer reliable protection for your skylight, giving you peace of mind and enhancing the longevity of your investment.
Custom flashings are created to match different Australian roof profiles and can be ordered to specific dimensions or powder-coated to match your Colorbond roof color.
Custom flashings are designed to work with VELUX’s range of flat roof skylights. When ordering, you will need to specify the model number of your skylight to ensure compatibility.
- Fixed flat roof skylight (FCM): An insulated, heavy-gauge aluminum skylight designed for bringing natural light into buildings with flat roofs.
- Manual opening flat roof skylight (VCM): A manually operated version of the flat roof skylight.
- Solar powered opening flat roof skylight (VCS): An automated version with solar power for opening and closing.
- Superior Weatherproofing: Flashing is the primary defense against water intrusion, directing water away from the vulnerable area where the skylight meets the roof. Custom flashing is precisely engineered to integrate seamlessly with your specific roofing material (e.g., Colorbond metal, etc.), virtually eliminating the risk of leaks.
- Accommodates Specific Roof Types: Velux does not offer standard flashing systems suitable for all Australian flat roof materials (like Klip-lok®, Trimdek®, etc.). Custom flashing is made to suit these specific profiles, making installation possible and secure on a wider range of roofs.
- Optimal Pitching: While Velux flat roof skylights can be used on a 0° pitch, it is recommended they have a slight pitch (e.g., 3°-5°) to prevent water ponding and condensation buildup on the glass. Custom flashings or “pitch adapters” can be designed to achieve this required pitch, ensuring proper drainage and performance.
- Enhanced Durability: Made from durable materials like heavy-gauge aluminium, Zincalume, or Colorbond steel, custom flashings are designed to withstand the harsh Australian climate and resist fading, chipping, or peeling.
- Aesthetic Integration: Custom flashings can be powder-coated to match the specific color of your roof, providing a seamless and aesthetically pleasing appearance from the exterior.
- Compliance with Building Codes: In bushfire-prone areas (like those with a BAL 40 rating), custom flashing is required to meet strict building codes and ensure the overall system complies with safety standards.
- Maintains Warranty: Using the correct, professionally installed custom flashing ensures the integrity of the installation and helps maintain the manufacturer’s product and installation warranties.
