VELUX VS C01 Manual Opening Skylight – 550 × 700mm
The VELUX VS C01 is the smallest manual-opening VELUX pitched-roof skylight. With approximately 407 × 519mm of internal glass, 0.21m² daylight area and 0.31m² ventilation area, it is designed for pitched-roof rooms where you want both natural light and simple, non-powered airflow.
Why Choose VS C01?
Compact daylight and natural ventilation for small rooms and tighter roof layouts.
Rooms It Can Suit
- Bathrooms And Ensuites
- Laundries
- Walk-In Robes
- Toilets
- Pantries
- Small Hallways
- Compact Kitchens
Why Choose VS?
- Daylight plus real natural ventilation
- Lower purchase cost than powered VSE/VSS
- No motor, battery or power point required
- Removable insect screen included

How Will You Open VS C01?
The VS operating hook is included, but the manual control is selected separately. This is an important conversion decision because the finished plaster shaft and ceiling height determine how comfortable the skylight is to use.
Within reach. Replaces the operating hook and gives direct hand winding for a VS skylight that can be comfortably reached.
Just out of reach. A 60cm short control rod for situations where the skylight is slightly too high for direct hand operation.
Higher installations. Adjustable from approximately 145–285cm and attaches to the supplied operating hook.
Which Flashing Should You Use With VS C01?
Flashing is sold separately. VELUX offers factory flashing for common pitched-roof materials, while Central Skylights custom Colorbond flashing covers profiles such as TrimDeck and Klip-Lok and selected low-pitch raised configurations.
- EDW: compatible tiled roofs and low-profile metal such as corrugated iron / Spandek
- EDL: slate or shingle roofs, typically 4–8mm thick
- EKW: combination flashing for multiple skylights, 100mm spacing, for EDW-compatible roof types
- EDW is not for wide-span profiles such as TrimDeck or Klip-Lok
- Corrugated custom applications
- TrimDeck
- Klip-Lok
- Prefabricated or Flat Pack
- Colorbond colour and backflash options
- Raised-to-15° configuration for suitable sub-15° projects
Pitched-Roof Flashing & Installation Examples
These genuine Central Skylights images show real pitched-roof integration and drainage details. The first example is an FS fixed skylight rather than VS C01; it is used to illustrate the shared VELUX EDW/tile-roof flashing principle without mislabelling the model.

Final flashing, shaft and control details depend on the actual VS model, roof material, roof pitch and finished ceiling height.

Roof Framing, Shaft & Installation Planning
Overall product size is not the same as the required framed opening. Confirm rafter/truss spacing, structural member widths, roof battens, services and the finished plaster shaft before cutting.
- Check actual rafter/truss spacing
- Do not assume nominal centres equal a clear opening
- Do not cut structural trusses without proper design
- Plan the shaft around manual control reach
- Confirm roof profile and flashing before ordering
- Consider opening restrictor requirements for within-reach units

1. How do I open the VELUX VS C01?
Use ZZZ 201 when the skylight is within reach, ZOZ 032 when it is just out of reach, or ZCT 300 for higher installations. The operating hook is supplied with the VS; the manual controls are sold separately.
2. Does VS C01 have a rain sensor?
No. VS is a manual-opening skylight and does not automatically close if rain starts. Choose VSS C01 or VSE C01 if automatic rain closing is important.
3. What flashing do I need for VS C01?
Use the flashing that matches the actual roof. EDW suits compatible tile and low-profile corrugated roofs; EDL is for slate/shingle; EKW is a combination system for suitable multiple-skylight layouts; TrimDeck/Klip-Lok and selected special situations need roof-specific custom flashing.
4. How heavy is VS C01?
VELUX lists VS C01 at approximately 20.2kg, with the product data-sheet footnote stating that this weight includes flashing. Use that figure when planning delivery and roof handling.
5. Should I choose FS C01, VS C01, VSE C01 or VSS C01?
Choose FS C01 for fixed daylight, VS C01 for manual ventilation, VSE C01 for electric remote ventilation with rain sensor, or VSS C01 for solar remote ventilation with rain sensor.

The same nominal size can serve very different buyers. Compare operation before the roof opening and flashing are committed.

Add an FSCH or FSLH Solar Blind to VS C01
Both blind families are designed for VS/VSE/VSS skylights and use their own solar power and wireless keypad, so adding a solar blind does not turn the manual VS skylight itself into a powered opening skylight.
View VS / VSE / VSS Blinds →Choose the Blind by Room
- FSCH Honeycomb: stronger room darkening and heat reduction
- FSLH Translucent: softer filtered daylight and glare reduction
- Useful in bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and media spaces

I don’t understand why the window frame and the water-blocking accessories are both dented. It’s probably shipping damage
