Using standard VELUX flashing? Genuine VELUX EDW can suit compatible tile and conventional corrugated applications. VELUX advises EDW is not suitable for metal profiles such as TrimDeck and Klip-Lok, where a roof-specific custom flashing solution is normally required.
Match the Flashing to the Roof Profile & Pitch
VELUX FS, VS, VSE and VSS are pitched-roof skylight families intended for suitable installations from 15° to 90°. On selected roofs below 15°, an inclined custom flashing configuration may be needed so the pitched-roof skylight is presented at a suitable installation angle rather than simply following the low roof plane.

Backflash, Back Tray & Water Management
The complete flashing arrangement needs to guide water travelling down the roof safely around the skylight and back onto the roof drainage path. Depending on the roof profile, pitch, skylight position and roof area above the opening, a backflash or back tray may be recommended.
Backflash May Be Needed When
- The roof has a low pitch
- There is significant roof area above the skylight
- The skylight is positioned well below the ridge
- The profile needs additional water diversion
- The skylight sits near a wall or roof junction
