VELUX Sun Tunnels 350mm | TWR Rigid, TWF Flexible & ZTR Extension
Price range: $410.06 through $925.62
Bring natural daylight into hallways, bathrooms, laundries, walk-in robes, pantries and other dark internal spaces with a VELUX 350mm Sun Tunnel. Choose TWR 0K14 rigid for the strongest light transfer and longer, clearer roof-to-ceiling paths, or TWF 0K14 flexible when roof framing or services make a straight route difficult. Both pitched-roof models suit 15°–60° roofs and include the roof module, integrated flashing for compatible tile/corrugated roofs, tunnel and ceiling diffuser. ZTR 0K14 1240mm extensions suit rigid TWR only; for flat or low-pitch roofs below 15°, compare the TCR 014 instead.
VELUX TWF Flexible & TWR Rigid Sun Tunnels with ZTR Extension
Bring natural daylight into hallways, walk-in robes, powder rooms, pantries, stairwells and other dark internal spaces where a conventional skylight may be difficult to install. Choose the TWF flexible tunnel when the roof cavity has obstructions, the TWR rigid tunnel when there is a clearer roof-to-ceiling path and maximum light transfer matters, or add a ZTR rigid extension when a TWR needs extra length.
TWF Flexible or TWR Rigid — Which Sun Tunnel Should You Buy?
The best choice depends mainly on the path between the roof and the ceiling. The straighter and more reflective that path is, the more efficiently daylight can travel into the room.
TWF Flexible Sun Tunnel
Choose TWF when roof framing, services or other obstacles prevent a clean rigid route. The flexible tunnel is easier to manoeuvre around obstructions and is particularly useful for shorter runs.
- 350mm tunnel diameter
- Flexible shaft
- 15°–60° pitched roofs
- Good for difficult roof cavities
- Integrated flashing for suitable tile / conventional corrugated roofs
TWR Rigid Sun Tunnel
Choose TWR when there is a reasonably clear route from roof to ceiling. Its highly reflective rigid tube is designed to transfer more daylight and is the stronger choice for longer tunnel runs.
- 350mm tunnel diameter
- Highly reflective rigid shaft
- 15°–60° pitched roofs
- Two adjustable elbow sections
- Can be extended with ZTR 0K14
TWR Uses a Highly Reflective Rigid Shaft
VELUX describes the rigid TWR shaft as the higher-light-output option. Current VELUX Australia literature states that the highly reflective rigid shaft can provide substantially more light than the flexible tunnel in suitable installations. That makes TWR the preferred starting point when the roof cavity allows a direct or gently angled route.
Choose TWR When
- The roof-to-ceiling route is mostly clear
- You want the strongest daylight transfer
- The tunnel needs to run further
- You may need ZTR rigid extensions
Choose TWF When
- Roof framing blocks a straight route
- Ducting, wiring or services need to be avoided
- The run is relatively short
- Installation flexibility matters more than maximum light output
What Is ZTR 0K14?
ZTR 0K14 is a 1.24m rigid extension section for VELUX rigid Sun Tunnel systems. It is used when the standard rigid tunnel does not provide enough roof-to-ceiling length.
Use ZTR With
- TWR rigid pitched-roof Sun Tunnel
- Projects needing additional rigid tunnel length
- Longer roof-to-ceiling distances
Do Not Use ZTR With
- TWF flexible shaft
- As a replacement for the main Sun Tunnel kit
- Without checking the total tunnel path and length first
Check the Roof Type Before Ordering
TWF and TWR pitched-roof Sun Tunnels include an integrated roof module and flashing arrangement for suitable tiled and conventional corrugated metal roofs. They are not a universal flashing solution for every metal roof profile.
Use a Sun Tunnel Where a Full Skylight Is More Than You Need
A Sun Tunnel works especially well in smaller or internal areas where the goal is simply to replace daytime artificial lighting with natural light — without creating a full skylight opening and plaster shaft.
Hallways & Passages
Bring daylight into long internal circulation spaces that otherwise need lights on throughout the day.
Walk-In Robes & Pantries
Compact spaces often need daylight but do not justify a large conventional skylight.
Powder Rooms & Small Bathrooms
Add natural light without needing the roof opening and shaft size of a standard skylight.
Complete Roof-to-Ceiling Daylight System
TWF and TWR kits combine the roof module, tunnel and ceiling diffuser so the system collects daylight at roof level, carries it through the roof cavity and spreads it into the room below.
Roof Module
4mm toughened external glass with an integrated roof flashing/apron arrangement for the compatible roof types.
350mm Tunnel
Choose flexible TWF or highly reflective rigid TWR depending on the roof-cavity route.
Ceiling Diffuser
The internal diffuser spreads collected daylight into the room and can be removed for cleaning.
BAL 29 Applies to the TWR Rigid Model Under Specific Conditions
VELUX Australia lists BAL 29 for TWR when installed at roof pitches from 18°–60°. Do not assume the same rating applies to TWF or to installations outside those conditions.
Not sure whether TWF or TWR will fit your roof cavity?
Send us the room location, roof type, approximate roof-to-ceiling distance and a roof-space photo if available. We can help you work out whether a rigid path is practical or whether the flexible TWF is the safer choice.
Which VELUX Sun Tunnel Should I Choose?
| Your situation | Best starting choice |
|---|---|
| Clear or mostly clear roof-to-ceiling path | TWR rigid |
| Roof cavity has beams / obstructions | TWF flexible |
| Rigid shaft needs more length | TWR + ZTR extension |
| Roof pitch below 15° | Assess a low-pitch Sun Tunnel model instead |
TWF Flexible Sun Tunnel
- 350mm diameter flexible tunnel
- Suitable for 15°–60° pitched roofs
- Designed to route around roof-space obstructions
- Best suited to shorter tunnel lengths
- Integrated roof flashing for suitable tile / conventional corrugated roofs
Choose TWF when installation flexibility is the priority.
TWR Rigid Sun Tunnel
- 350mm diameter highly reflective rigid tunnel
- Suitable for 15°–60° pitched roofs
- Includes two elbow sections for angled routing
- Suitable for longer tunnel runs
- Can be extended using ZTR 0K14 sections
- BAL 29 listed by VELUX for TWR at 18°–60°
Choose TWR when daylight performance is the priority and the roof cavity allows a rigid route.
ZTR 0K14 Rigid Extension
ZTR adds 1.24m of rigid tunnel length and is sold separately.
- For rigid Sun Tunnel systems
- Not suitable for TWF flexible tunnel
- Use when the standard rigid shaft is too short
- Multiple rigid extension sections can be used subject to the VELUX maximum tunnel length

Is TWR brighter than TWF?
In a suitable installation, yes. The highly reflective rigid shaft is designed to transfer more daylight than the flexible tunnel, which is why TWR is usually preferred when the roof cavity is clear enough.
Can I use a ZTR extension with TWF?
No. ZTR is a rigid extension and is not intended for the TWF flexible tunnel.
Can I install TWF or TWR on a flat roof?
TWF and TWR are pitched-roof products for 15°–60°. VELUX has a separate low-pitch rigid Sun Tunnel system for lower roof pitches.
Will the standard flashing fit TRIMDEK® or KLIP-LOK®?
Do not assume so. TWF/TWR integrated flashing is intended for compatible tiled and conventional corrugated iron roofs. Wider-profile or concealed-fix metal roofs need separate assessment.
Which rooms are best for a Sun Tunnel?
Hallways, walk-in robes, pantries, powder rooms, small bathrooms and other internal spaces that need daylight but do not require a full conventional skylight.
What should I check before ordering?
Roof type, roof pitch, roof-to-ceiling distance, whether the roof cavity has obstructions and whether a rigid route is practical.
Rigid for Light Performance. Flexible for Difficult Roof Cavities.
The most important choice is not simply “which Sun Tunnel is cheaper?” — it is which tunnel can create the best roof-to-ceiling daylight path in your home. Check the cavity first, then choose TWR, TWF or the required ZTR extension.
